WordPress integration
Add live chat to WordPress
asktrix works on any WordPress site – blogs, company sites and WooCommerce shops. You paste one script tag into the header of your theme, or use a header-code plugin. There is no asktrix plugin to install or update.
Step by step
Install the chat widget on WordPress
You need admin access to WordPress and a free asktrix workspace.
Copy your snippet
In asktrix, open Settings → Channels → Installation and copy the snippet. It already contains your workspace ID.
Install the chat widget on WordPress<script async src="https://asktrix.org/widget.js" data-workspace="YOUR_WORKSPACE_ID"></script>Open the header of your theme
In WordPress go to Appearance → Theme File Editor, or use a plugin for header code such as “WPCode” if you prefer not to edit theme files.
Paste the code before </head>
Paste the snippet into the header (
header.php, right before</head>) or into the plugin's header field.Save, clear the cache, check
Save, clear your caching plugin if you use one, and open your website. The chat button appears in the bottom right corner.
Good to know
Theme updates, WooCommerce and caching
If you edit header.php directly, a theme update can overwrite your change. A child theme or a header-code plugin keeps the snippet in place across updates.
WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so the same steps apply to your shop. Paste the code into header.php before </head> or via a code snippet plugin, then clear the shop cache.
The script loads with async, so it does not block your page from rendering.

FAQ
Questions and answers
Anything else? Write to us – we’re happy to answer.
01Is there a WordPress plugin?
No plugin is needed. The widget is one script tag, so there is nothing extra to install or update in WordPress.
02Does it work with WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so you add the same snippet to the theme header or via a code snippet plugin.
03The widget does not show up – what now?
Clear your caching plugin and your browser cache, and check that the snippet sits inside <head> on every page. If you hide the widget when everyone is away, set yourself to online.
04Can I pass logged-in WordPress users to the chat?
Yes, with the JavaScript API: call asktrix.identify() with name and email in your theme (Start plan and up).
